Those awesome 2D skills.
Alex's wings are different than wings I've done in the past, because of the different color sections. I have a clear idea on how I want to make them, and that requires drawing out a visual beforehand. If I can get a whole wing done tonight, I'll be quite pleased. After the first one is done, the second one should go quicker.
I'm also remembering how amazing Crayola crayons smell. NGL, sometimes I took coloring books and a big pack of crayons to large lecture classes (one in particular in an auditorium that had the lights off every class, to look at slides). If I didn't, I was pretty much guaranteed to fall asleep. So I figured coloring while listening was going to be more beneficial than just sleeping through the whole thing. vombatiformes can attest to my advanced sleeping skills.

Now see, it's a good thing I posted a picture, because I can get feedback and alter it before everything is already made! Somehow I'd forgotten to add in that golden flap-like section between the wing and the body (I closed my laptop when I was coloring it, for a flat surface, haha). Modify, modify.
