FiM repeatedly shows them using their mouth for such. (Whiplash must have had a simple treatment in Equestria.) Alternately, Blaze knows Applejack's trick of gripping things with the flat of her hoof. (All earthponies can break physics; Pinkie just specializes in it. C: ) Pegasi could probably grip it with their wingfeathers.
Whatever her target is, it may well be quite close, indeed. Perhaps she is having a re-match with a Sleipnir mech! Last time she fought one, she did not have a solinoid quench gun, and it mauled her bad enough to warrant extensive cybernetic augmentation to get her back on her hooves.
