This reminds me of something that happened in elementary school.
We were reading some book on lighthouses and lobsters or something so our teacher thought it would be a good idea to bring to class a live lobster for the class to see. After about twenty minutes of letting everyone pet it and stuff (it's claws were banded of course) she told us we could look forward to eating it tomorrow. We had a vegetarian kid in the class and he looked like he saw a ghost. The lobster was delicious by the way.

I found it as funny as I do now.
... and I find it hilarious.
It's not that I don't care about animals or anything, because I do, I just always have had a "outside looking in" perspective that lets me see that yes it's sad but at the same time you have to admit that it's pretty funny.
