Typically, I default to yes for that kind of thing for my characters, since that's what I like to see, but I dunno.
Something I thought about a little was the idea of a Pipbuck attachment that would produce holograms and repulsion fields. I imagine the hologram of a balloon with a repulsion field to match up with the contact points of the hologram and maybe some sound recordings or simulated synth sounds could make something of a temporary pseudo-balloon to play with for as long as the spell charge could withstand the play.
I like that thought.
