The character I posted a couple of weeks ago now stars in a game that's gradually being built up around him! I'm hoping for it to be about a fifty-fifty mix of platforming and adventuring. This (8MB - sorry) GIF shows one of the first heavy platform sections of the game with some abilities that you'll acquire later on.

Looks pretty cool! Graphics are easy to read and the jump arc looks correct. One thing I might suggest is making the speed of the air dash a little bit lower while keeping the distance it travels--it's a really sudden change in speed right now that seems disorienting (at least when viewing it in animated GIF form).

Thanks! These are just experiments now, and I'm yet to perfect the speed and the angle of the jump off the wall (I agree it should be slower).
The GIF was made by a convoluted process - recording in FRAPS, using GIMP 2 GAP (which I am not proficient with) to make a GIMP project out of the video frames, and then exporting as an animated GIF.
