Selonians are tunnel dwelling species, and as a result, many of them suffer from agoraphobia when out away from home. The stress of this can sometimes lead to overeating as a defense mechanism. Generally this is not a problem, but if it persists, it can lead to weight gain. However, the extra weight can sometimes help the selonian feel a bit more 'grounded', thus easing the stress a bit and helping them to be happier.
Of course, stress or not, it's still really annoying when your belt stops fitting.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the little stories and synopsis. As far as attractive it's hard to say. I think it's distinctly possible. Afterall, normally the only ones who get that big are the fertile females, who tend to be a lot heavier and softer even when not pregnant. These females are held in high regard, so it is possible that other Selonians with that appearance might be considered attractive.
