I just came up with a crazy story/series idea. You know how kids sleep better with a plushie? Well, maybe it is something beyond physical comfort that plushies provide. They may serve security within the subconscious state of when dreams occur.

During sleep, a plushie can enter a child's dream or nightmare like a parallel universe. When a nightmare occurs, it is the plushie's mission to fight off the fear or monster and restore peace to the dream realm; which makes a plushie also known as a dream defender. A dream defender (plushie) has abilities/weapons based on the child's imagination limit.
For example, Sparky the dragon wields a wooden sword and breathes fire while Dusky the raccoon has skill in martial arts and can master visual illusions.In my story, Sparky belongs to a girl named Emily and Dusky belongs to Emily's friend, Sammie.

That's all I got so far, so the project is still in the works. I still need to finalize the personalities of the plushie owners and come up with some story plots.
