I don't mind announcing one's birthday, but right there, I don't blame you. Unless said person is someone you know and really do care, the cookie is all you'll get out of it.

It's just ironic how it's plain rude and yet when you say no and explain, their attitude change almost instantly.

seems like a really mean way to handle it, trying to embarrass the person involved(even though I agree with the context)it should probably be handled with said person, like an adult, no offense :/

I see a lot of comics and so that kinda rib or take shots at people, and its something that I feel in some cases is done in cruel intent. your totally right in this, I do agree people shouldn't be like"oh, its x-day gimme stuff"its kinda shitty, and because your an artist, it doesn't make it any more right to ask for free art. I think some people though don't understand that, or may have screwed up backrounds to where they don't understand. why I usually say talk first, if that fails, shit, what else can ya do besides make it more open?

If they REALLY wanted a gift, they'd just stay quiet. It's our choice whether or not we get a gift and it's our choice to determine if said birthday person DESERVE a gift.

is it really necessary to be this nasty?some people are socially awkward, and mean no harm, some are indeed assholes, and some are people who maybe don't get love in there lives, maybe no one cares for them irl and they feel affection when they get stuff, so they drive hard to get what makes them feel good, unintentionally being inconsiderate. its the same as saying anyone who thinks these people are mindless apes because they are stupid are actually mindless as they cannot think of any reason why these people might do it. golden rule, do unto others as they would to you, it can be applied to speaking of as well. just a thought

It doesn't even have to be a birthday xD. I had a guy just recently straight up ask me if i could do a ref of his character, full description and everything. He didn't even mention whether it was a request or a commission but once I said I don't take requests, "okay thanks bye"

If it's clear they don't want to be asked? I don't ask.

I try to avoid this particular situation, especially with people I don't know too well. I don't want to be a jerk.
