Well another factor seems to be that they are picking fan favorites for these form shifts.

Lucario, Blaziken, Mewtwo, Absol, Ampharos, and Mawile are all fairly popular pokemon.

Kangaskhan is well known for fringe people who are disputing "No, cubone = baby kangaskhan!", so this Mega form speeds up Junior's growth and shows that they really don't look the same. (not to mention that all Kangaskhan are female, so that'

Well, wickedly sharp vicious claws are kinda the weavile family's trademark.

Ahh, those red claws on her are so lovely, I just love the way the coloring all fits together. I quite like the design, especially the eyes and shadowy markings.

Yeah, I thought the shadowy markings would work to reflect its dark nature. By the way, did you mean red feathers instead of red claws?
