Hello,
Meerkats, just like any other critters, need to be washed. The last thing I want is to smell bad during a walk. These are a few of the things I use:
Washing:
Setting to wool wash, the pink bottle is available in the Netherlands:
- Jumbo Wol & Fijn
(be sure to set your washing machine to wool wash, and NO spinning!)
The German alternative is Lenor Febreze. Especially for heavy usage. It lacks the hard smell of the Febreze spray, and it sure makes the fur feel oh so soft!
Anti-bacterial spray:
For your fursuit head.Sagrotan hygiene spray.
Of course, air your head, and brush your bodysuit after washing. Recommended are animal-fur brushes, available at your local petshop. Use them the 'wrong' way. This way no fur sticks to the brush itself. After all, fursuits tend not to 'regrow'. If it does, you might have a problem ;)

Oh, stuff it in a pillowcase :) Her instruction video shows that. Add some towels for extra padding, though our washing machines are a lot more kind than top loaders.
Leeuw washed his and the airbrushing was fine, Melody's 5 year old airbrushing faded somewhat but the new airbrushing held up OK. Just stick it on a fan when done, as long as air circulates and is never still, it will dry safely.

I've washed my fursuit body in the machine using the lowest spin cycle ( 400 a minute ) and setting the temperature to 'cool wash'. I use the Lenor softner, but just standard detergent and not the wool wash stuff.
I'd be too scared to ever put the head in... although it probably wouldn't fit through the door of the machine anyway.

Reading the label on that can of Sagrotan, I got confused at first because I thought "Pilze" only meant "mushrooms" in German? I thought that "der Fungus" or "der Schwamm" would be the right word, but I guess not. Or maybe it's a spray for killing bacteria, mushrooms, and special viruses. You know, so you don't have any truffles growing out of your suit!
