Definitely enjoyed this. Engrossing setting and characters altogether. Totally approve of a six-foot long fuzzy tail! Good cliffhanger at the end. Definitely looking forward to the next part!
My only real issue is that the purple prose is a bit too heavy in parts. I found myself rereading a few paragraph just to try to comprehend what was being described. (Eggplant lips? Whaa...?) Only a minor issue though!

I respectfully disagree on the second portion, Virmir. There are definitely parts of the story that use metaphor and symbolism more heavily than others -- a natural result of having multiple writers, including a lyricist -- but having seen purple prose, I can safely say the descriptions are anything but. You mention being thrown by the 'eggplant lips' line -- that, in so many words, is what a scorched and blackened corpse looks like, as can be seen in a good deal of pictures taken of the aftermath of genocidal campaigns (the word choice in this instance is a very effective one). Simply put: it's one thing if the initial meaning of the words escape you, but another thing entirely to call it purple prose.
With that said, I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed the setting and the characters -- the team really put their all into this setting, so it's good hearing that the reception was warm overall.
