Excellent job on this. Colors are great, shading is nice. The shading and lens flares both support that the sun is to the top right.

This is... easily... AMAZING!!!!!!!
The line work is great, I think you did a great vaporeon, NO FLAWS, but honestly, no amazing expression or pose as well.
The background is what amazed me the most, no lines in the background always works perfect for a realistic background.
The clouds are no cartoonish clouds, they are realistic ones.
The water needs some reflection from the sun, but still I got amazed.
The gradient on the sky also works wonders (I think you could have done a similar gradient on the water)
The splash is good and realistic, but I know it could have been better, this one, still wins.
The light and shadows on the Vaporeon are good, but I think it needs to be more shiny, remember that the water is over his body and thus this makes him reflect much more light.
I think that's all.
By the way, you had a very different view in mind in comparison with me. I will show you the way imagined the leap when I get to upload pics again.

Thanks again, I agree on the lineless bgs, but I do admit to referencing photos for an idea on how to make the bg, but nothing was directly copied of course. Good advice on the water, at least I was able to include vaporeon's shadow there, these are all helpful comments I appreciate, somehow I must learn to save all the comments and criticisms you write here in some kind of text file or something, just so I won't forget some of the things I learned from you. Very appreciative as always Digi! ^^

Don't worry even if you sometime directly copy a background, in fact, that helps a lot to practice, I won't think anything bad about you doing that.
And sorry if my comment was harsh about the Vaporeon, I did like it, but I didn't say that and I don't want you to think you ONLY did the background good. I apologyse for not saying anything about the Vaporeon, it's reallly beautiful, I just said it had no amazing expression or pose but that didn't meant it wasn't very well drawn and beautiful as well. I regret not saying that before >_< sorry.

Oh no problem about the vaporeon, though I admit to using references very often both for characters and the background, even if it's kinda wrong to do it all the time ^^;

No Sparky, it is not wrong at all, please do not think we (your family) will say bad things to you if you do it.
The bad thing could be to lie by saying you did it by your own when you copied from somewhere, but even then, we could understand you trying your best to improve.
Please continue using references, that's practice, this way you will get the hang out of it and it will be easier for you to come up with something when there's no references at hand.
