I was looking at my bank account the other day, and decided I should set aside personal experimentation and research and make something that I can sell. I am still struggling with making a mold for expanded foam dragon tails, so I decided to return to the DARK SIDE again and make something furry. Cat tails! They turned out HUGE!! About 35" long.
I made the top one first and the red stripe one second. I have a problem with my tails twisting to one side, but I got some great tips from the fursuit Facebook group I post to sometimes on how to fix that. Hopefully I'll fix the twisting problem soon. My roommates tell me that the twisting adds character, but it still frustrates me, ya know? The second tail is also a hair thinner than the first attempt.
Materials are black and white arctic fox from Fabricdepot.com. It's the Shannon Fabrics fox fur. It is SUPER soft, shiny, and fluffy. The red is a remnant I bought from Mendels on a trip to San Francisco. It is a little coarser, but is still nice. The straps are nylon webbing, so they won't wear out as easily over time. Base is quilted broadcloth.
Very soon I will put both of these tails up for sale, or for auction. (I haven't quite decided). The twisting is the only real flaw in these tails. I used high quality furs and solid construction, so I think they are worth putting up for sale.
