Well thank you for the feedback :) I'm glad if the effect works that well since the entire scene is actually built out of props. Even his suspicious 'looking back' expression is a result of the angle I used to shoot the picture. The window I did paint on digitally while 'developing' the photo, but that's the extent of digital editing that went into it aside from things like adjusting the contrast.
It's great to hear if it manages to relay the story, since that can be one of the hallmarks of a successful photo and one of the things I've been working on :) Just wish there were more Dragons flying about to photograph in nature ;)

Sometimes something built out of props really does wonders. I know in some of my own food photography I've tried to set up things to add more to the picture beyond simply the food. Even down to backgrounds on occasion (Such as a video paused at a certain point.) It's really fun to set a bit of a scene, though what you are doing is telling a story with it.
I could easily see this being a scene picture from a rather longer story!
As for flying dragons, maybe that's your next trick for photography? Heh. Get a friend, a good statue or two of a dragon in flight, a pole and some fishing line and try for some sky shots? Or maybe even like a shadow shot on the ground? Could be fun in trying!
