Aww, look how cute they are!
These leather bottles are saturated with molten beeswax, so they can actually contain liquids. I'm prepping a bunch of them for shows, but they'll be up on Etsy eventually. These types of bottles were actually used in Europe in the middle ages, sealed with everything from wax to pitch.

Wonderful work! I was going to make a Mary Rose bottle myself but then became a bit distracted with other projects. I was also torn on what to use to make it bulge properly. I've seen others use barley to stuff it and bring it to form but I feel it may come out too bumpy. What did you use?
It's very fun! I love making bottles so much! I personally have used barley and rice in the past and didn't like either of them as much as what I use now: plastic pellets, like the ones inside beanie babies. The barley and rice both got sticky when exposed to the wet leather and stuck to the inside, so getting all of them out wasn't easy. The beads don't stick like that, are reusable, and are easy to pack in.
