Hammerspace, where would we be without it? Snake wouldn't be able to get around as well because he'd be weighed down trying to carry 5 different anti-tank weapons, 20 rifles, and 50 handguns; the same can be said of Gordon Freeman and many other FPS characters. And let's not forget Link, can you imagine if those iron boots obeyed physics all the time? Truly we are blessed to live in a world where we can imagine another world where characters are able to produce giant weapons by reaching behind their backs.
Well I'm not sure that access to hammerspace technically qualifies as multidimensional transference. If so then Cthulhu could come out of your back at any moment. With most characters seen using hammerspace it is implied that they were already in posession of the items which magically appeared, so it's more like a pocket dimension. Like having a Tardis behind your back... I'm thinking too much about something rather pointless.
