Here are two of the skylanders Az and I play with a LOT lol. I love Whirwind and he loves Drobot and apparently they're a pretty popular pairing in the skylander fan base.

Totally worth it I think. He doesn't need all the skylanders to beat the games, but he needs one of each element. Its pretty easy to get hooked to having different characters though since they all have their own personalities and back stories lol.
Thus far its been way too many hours of entertainment and bonding for Azzy and I, and any age can have fun with it I think. The nice thing is that it makes presents a lot easier in the long run for relatives, especially for the younger and young at heart.
