SO I'm watching the Hands on of the PS4 from IGN on youtube and I see the air vents are in the wrong place on the PS4.
what was SONY thinking of putting the power supply and air vents together in the same place

theres no way to know that for sure unless you have the highest TDP wattage output, and two, most cords are rated for atleast 120 degrees farenheit, and I doubt the air would get that hot unless you live here in korea with no AC or in a desert (need hot ambient air temps) of which the PS4 would start experiencing problems aready if it is outputting over 120 degree air (would have to output more to actually melt the cord), and im sure the transistors or MOSFETs and voltage regulators would pop before it caused significant damage.
Though being a former PS3 tech support, I also got to witness how stupid people are and they are willing to spend hundreds of wollars on repairs instead of 10 dollars (at the most) for a can of air to clean out the dust (which is an insulator). Plus they usually put that shit low tot eh ground and on carpet where it not only picks up more hair, dust and fibers that also wear out the ball bearings of the fans (unless theres a cheap made in china sleeve bearing fan which is even worse).
Plus its not like you can't route the cord safely out of the way, and there are ways because I done wiring. unless sony has another problem ith their solder balls cracking and causing failures due to heat, or no proper supports int eh chips causing those to fail I would imagine that a good amount of failures would be from neglect. You also forget most playstations (such as one and two) had vents in the back too. So does the wii and Xbox. Hell so do PC's.

and as a side note how sony usually operates. Their first gen consoles always have an integral powersupply before they slim down with an external power brick. So eventually you guys will get what you want. But don't bite the messenger because this is just science and history.
I won't but I did have an original Xbox console and never had a problem with it nor with the Xbox 360 phat or the Xbox 360 Slim when it came to power. As for the original Playstation I had the old grey one which I had chipped cause there games that were out in Australia and I wanted to play them.
I still can't get over the fact that SONY would do this though with a power supply plug. I feel sorry already for those that have pre-ordered the machine with out trying to find out if the power supply cable would melt if they are a hardcore gamer and play day in and day out or spend 48 hours playing it straight. I have never had a power brick failure. link of what has been said by someone that shouldn't have even wrote up the article on the unboxing of the Xbox ONE http://dispatches.cheatcc.com/dispa.....7#.Ugv80pKW_oJ

That wouldn't be too much of a problem if it was an exhaust vent system, as it would be blowing the hot air away from the console; though admittedly with the power supply right there it would have to do a truly amazing job in order to deal with over heating problems.
Now, if it was an intake system, then yeah they have a huge problem on their hands; and we have an expensive paperweight on ours.

I don't care I don't use it much so email away I just delete bad messages. Yes it is the exhaust for the heat-out and it shouldn't be there for the power supply though I could be wrong but if not SONY isn't listening to their investor's and consumer's then
no prob seeing as I have both a Ps3 and Xbox 360 and I never had a problem with the over-heating on both plus SONY shuold've just out and said "Here is an update of the PS3" and not launch a newer console. PS3 is fine cause it's not broken but the Xbox 360 was missing the skype chat and the Snap faction so Microsoft said here is the Xbox ONE with a Kinect V2 along with new feature's and new games along with a new way to play games while you're watching a movie or TV show.
On a update of Xbox ONE you don't need to pay for skype cause its a free service, the TV guide will be made free before launch. The only thing you need to worry about is the NFL feature which you may have to pay if the NFL has any say in it

true but SONY could've said here is our console design for the PS4 what can be changed to suit the needs of our consumer's (you the people)d, but they didn't so this heat exhaust near the power supply is a very, very BIG bad move cause they want people, (the hardcore gamer's) to fork out more money on a power supply cable. I'm sticking with my PS3 rather then get a PS4. I have no problems with the Ps3 though I'm thinking of getting modded to play Saints Row IV (USA version) with others outside of Australia
