This is #6 of 7 Uploads For Simbas Birthday Today! 8-13-13
Fun Facts About This Image:
The pose for this picture is based after a scene in Fritz Langs 1927 movie; ‘Metropolis’ restored and set to a synthesized instrumental score and vocal music by Giorgio Moroder in 1984. It’s the second sequence of the song ‘Here’s My Heart’, the overall anthem for the entire movie and what brought about this latest song compilation. The whole thing runs like an hour and a half music video, and though the music is phenomenal…much of the actual plot and title cards are cut so it’s somewhat hard to discern what’s going on.
Originally the accompanying music was compiled ONE WHOLE YEAR ago, last summer, days after I’d finished last years (2012) compilation. I was going to use the music for Christmas, but associated the songs more with summer, so waited for Simbas Birthday this year (2013)
I actually remembered I had wanted to do a ‘vintage’ photo affect years ago with another image, but didn’t quite have the knowhow at the time. I forget which picture I wanted to do that with but I do recall it was another album cover.
Finding the Deco borders and ornaments was an absolute bitch, any offerings out there you have to pretty much fork over money for…I encountered the same headache with the vintage photo paper textures, I must have thrown out a good two hours just scouring the internet to find just the right one. Oh, and photoshop kept freezing while I was working on this too…
I knew I wanted to do this exact pose/cover the moment I first heard the song it goes along with.

I can't help but think of 'Great Gatspy' upon looking at this although I know you were making references to something entirely different.
Love how you made both colored and b&w versions, both very respectable. I notice Simba here has a slightly different hair style and beard which seems to match the era some.
I'm amazed at how much art you've been pumping out in the past 24 hours! You're astounding and this proves it!

I mostly looked for 'art deco' or 'art nouveau' style borders, which was the prominent style of art around then...wasn't easy to locate, most places charge for vector style stuff or clipart from that era. I just knew I wanted it to look like the type of photographs taken then, and they were often cropped with heavy black borders embossed with those kinds of designs. I only know this because I have a few I've picked up here and there.
