The pupil is a hole in the center of the iris, which is similarly shaped to an inverted sphere underneath the cornea. Canines have much bigger irises (by comparison to a human eye) increasing the bowl-like effect.

If you want it to look that way, then that's ok! However, it looks wrong/incorrect because there is an odd mix of extreme side angle on a frontal portrait. It causes visual confusion. The pupil's position says the dog is looking at the viewer, but the sclera says he/she is looking to the extreme side.

That said I think the fur is lovely. I especially like the forehead's sheen and the nose. And the pose is pretty darn cool as well!
