Well I have a showcase arcade cabinet (hollowed out but still has a nonworking 42' tube monitor) and it was a silver strike bowling arcade with not only the buttons and track ball but it comes with this card reader for members only, so my question is this: how to test it?

If you plug it into a windows computer and look at what pops up in the device manager it will give you more info. Alot of these devices that have serial and USB show up as a usb-to-serial converter when you plug them in. It it pops up as a com port testing will be easy, just use Putty to watch what comes down the line when you put a card in.
