Totally agreed on the billiard balls part. xD
Still, while not realistic I see visible brown or an exaggerated mess a better form of implication. I find it comparable somewhat to whenever a light bulb appears over a cartoon character's head when they think of a good idea. That's obviously something you'd never see, but it's a helpful visible implication to the viewer, if you see what I mean.

I'm not really a fan of the "obviously wet/messy diaper" technique ... realistically it's not super easy to tell when a diaper's been used just by looking at it. The thicker it is, the harder it is to tell, too. That's a disposable there, and the outer cover of those is pretty much opaque. So Quick could be the stinky one and it wouldn't necessarily be visually obvious, realistically speaking.
Or it could be the plushie. Who knows what Quick's been rolling it around in? (Or bothering his skunk friends with it, or whatever.) Though it doesn't look dirty ...

What I went for was that it was implied since I'd let the people decide if he is stinky or not. I'm not exactly a great big fan of messy pictures, so I went with one that would simply imply that he most likely needs a change and is blaming the plushie in an effort to avoid it. Also, He won't let anyone near his plushie, which he had named Ms. Kam.
