On of the old random comics of a series called "Max's Shop" from around 2000. The story Series "Max & Devon" was basically created from these old comic pages

They used to be. HOWEVER, when people typed on old typewriters, the keys would jam, because secretaries typed too fast. QWERTY was invented to slow typing down... and nobody has ever really replaced it in North American keyboards. A friend of mine has a typewriter with an alphabetical keyboard.
