your icon looks pretty good to me!
i really enjoy pixel art after the lineart's done, which is the time consuming part. the coloring, shading, and background is pretty simple and fun.
i'm bad about accepting requests and failing to ever complete them, but if you'd like i can try to make a basic template and edit/color on a character-by-character basis or simply let others do the coloring for themselves.
