I love this message! It's so important that we allow ourselves to express our happiness.
[begin public service announcement about mental health]
At the same time, I think it's important we allow people to express when they really feel unhappy. A massive amount of people suffer from depression or other mood disorders that are soooo hard to deal with and even harder to explain to people who aren't familiar with it.
If you see somebody who isn't smiling, never assume they can just become happy with the flip of a switch. Respect their space and try doing something that puts them in a better place, rather than ask them to smile for your sake. As uncomfortable as it can be to see people expressing sadness, it's far more uncomfortable to be sad and getting out of a slump takes more than a smile.
As somebody who deals with emotional imbalances, I really like the positive message you have here! It's nice to see other people spreading messages of compassion.
