You ever feel as though you've been betrayed?
Attacked
By the one who made you.
Like God discovered a flaw in his creation
And had it removed...

Interesting and lovely song, but your little quote is what really caught my eye. Since you moved this over from DA, i take it you're no longer feeling this way? Or would it still help to have someone to talk to?
Do you draw after you hear the song, or match the song to the picture?
It's amazing how much emotion a little sketch can convey, isn't it?

Thank you. It's one of my favorite songs if I'm in a calm, sort-of gray mood. Yeah, it's been a little while. A lot in the ring of emotional sketches came from the same day. Having visited my parents I was...really rather down...They're very judgmental, very religious, and they don't listen. They'll say 'tell us what's wrong; why do you feel this way,' and when you respond they'll twist your words so it's your fault. So that you're the one unconscious of other's feelings. So that you're the one in the wrong. So yeah...it was a pretty bad day, and I'd only stayed there a night (mostly to visit my younger brother than them).
Yeah, I sort of just clicked around on my ipod until I found a song that fit my overall mood, and drew with it as a sort of rhythm. It's hard to explain, but I hope that was clear enough.
I tend to find the most raw of emotions come out of sketches. They aren't concentrated, don't have a certain image you're trying to capture. They just sort of flow, you know?

Oh, i know exactly what you mean. With your parents, their word-twisting "help", your use of music as a rhythm for drawing, and the raw powerful nature of a fresh sketch.
i prefer drawing with music when i can, because it helps drown out distractions, sinks me into the drawing like getting lost in a good book. And i always prefer sketching instead of full 'complete' artwork (lines+colour) because after the sketch is finished, it feels to me like i'm whittling away at a sculpture, trying to "perfect" it while all i ever seem to do is chip away until it's only half the work of art it was when it was pounded out from raw emotion and inspiration.
There are exceptions, of course, but they're rare for me.
