Are you using ps or sai? The blending is really nice.

Almost all of my art is done in SAI with various different brushes. I haven't really touched PS in a long time for more than touch-ups.

All the best blended work I've seen is done in Sai...I have used the program but I can't seem to get used to the interface :/ ...

What would you recommend?

Well the brush and water-color brush tools are the best to use for blending. Higher blending and low persistence in the brush settings works pretty well. I shade and blend by using the shaded color over the flat, then going over the shaded part lightly with the base color again to make it lighter in some areas. And using contrasting colors makes the shading stand out more. For most of this picture I used purple to shade the orange; for example.
