It's great to go on vacation, but I'm always happy to come home, too. I thought this snapshot was pretty funny, and a good way to show how our house typically is. My husband, Mbala is trying to read on the couch and the rest of the family is just hanging out.
Preacher (afghan hound), Kimahri (shiba inu),
mbala, Zen (pied crow), Vince (cat), and Ara (blue and gold macaw).
People often ask me how the animals all get along, and generally they get along well. Of course, when they are out together, they are being supervised by my husband and I. Generally we don't let the different birds out at the same time to avoid problems, but our place is definitely 'busy'!

There's quite a few pictures of Ara on my website - http://foxloft.com/exotics/ara :)
I have a bit more info on captive corvids on my website - http://foxloft.com/exotics/zen
I think the best possible way to get experience with them is to work doing wildlife rehab - there is a large organization of private rehabbers and centers across the country. Then you can do hands-on and see how it is to care for the animals day to day. Captive corvids are a lot of work - I get a lot of satisfaction from being around Zen and her mate Seven, but it's definitely not like having a general 'pet'.
Oh I can only imagine. Like I said, over my head, for my lifestyle right now. Then again, so are parrots and foxes, heh.
Still interesting to hear about other people doing it, though.
Like those shows on animal planet about the people who raise big cats and such.
I already feel like I have my hands full rehabilitating and fostering dogs, lol.

cute! i love your fluffy Shiba Inu, my uncle and aunt have two of them and they're the average non-poofy type :P
i'd love to volunteer at a rehabilitation center or something so i could be around animals all the time, i'm quite sure i would never have the time to take care of so many animals :<

I have been reading up on and preparing myself for what it wuld be like to keep a corvid, alas there is nowhere around here to get hands-on training in such things, let alone acquire a hand-raised corvid of my own. Besides, I'm already sorta ushing it, having a severely antisocial cat and a rabbit in a no-pets rented house :S
But your little family is beautiful, I wish I could visit :)

Pied crows are incredible animals... very clever!
Despite his refined appearence here. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1140649/ This one was moving from window to window in our car, putting on quite a loud and eventful performance in an effort to gain food. When he found out we didn't have any, he moved to the next car! Haha... I'm kinda jealous of you, I want one give food now.
