I figured giving her as few markings as possible would work to my favor in the long run.
It's also why the bands on her wings do not have a set number or placement.
I can understand why people say things like, "10 stripes on the face" or "142 spots" because most people put a lot of thought and care into these designs.
However, it's just astounding how difficult it seems to be to grasp that certain art styles just don't allow for that kind of precision and other art styles are hampered by the restriction.
A simple, concise character with a description to match is easiest on everybody.

it's really more about giving your character context and purpose really. which is what i'm still learning how to do.
like angels for example: they got their trademark wings and halo because early artists wanted to distinguish them from humans and other saints.
when people give their characters strange markings or stripes....what is it for? how does it add to the character?

Actually, "winged messengers of the divine" aka "angels" have existed in every single doctrine, belief, faith, and religion man has had since the dawn of time.
The early Chinese believed it to be the crane, with it's huge, white wings. The legend goes that a crane lives for 1,000 years and if you make a paper crane for each of it's years of life, (1,000), it will fly your one wish up to the gods.
A lot of hokum, one might say, and I'm even Christian, but I was very sick for a time, (I was deemed terminal), and I made the 1,000 cranes, wishing to get better. I am now the picture of health and really, God himself said, "I have many names" couldn't one of them be "Kamisama"?
I lived in Japan, therefore it's the Shinto name for the Almighty that I know. I took mine to a Japanese shrine, but the practice is the same and it originated in China.
But I agree that just slapping a pair of white wings on a character should mean something. Every part of Truth means something, from her wolfish face to her lion body, yes even the owl wings and Little Mermaid bangs; it all means something.
She may be a bit of a mish-mash on paper, but she flies through the skies with the highest of dreams and goals.
