Rendering abstract concepts is a great challenge. I needed a way to express that these characters are almost equals, even related, but one has exclusive authority. The relationship is complex and changing, but that was my personal takeaway.

Thanks †o Izisio for trusting me with his characters. It was a wild ride!

EDIT: Here's an animated GIF from start to finish, except it's missing some sketches and doesn't show the sculptures I made (and later ended up not using—OOPS)

This is simply breathtaking. It's everything I'd ever want of a painting. The process makes it all the better, showing just how much work went into it. Thanks for creating, and sharing!
