And ne'er a George Michael in sight.
A small series of some Irish scenery. A small cottage amidst the splendours of the gentle hills.

It looks like home when I was a child.
With the cost of gas how can anyone afford to live in such a place?
I am going to have to sell my horses sell my farm and leave the Tennessee hills to move closer to work. I just can't afford the gas any more. And your gas is so much more. How can anyone do it?

I suppose the difference is in distant and wages. Fuel here is currently 1.20 euro a litre, which is far more expensive than in the US. But then again, the commute is a lot less in comparison, especially for those of us on the west coast of the island. I, for example, have a 15 mile journey to work each day. That's a 30 mile round trip. Not wonderful, but doable on a reasonably good road, and I get the benefits of living in a nice place out in the countryside. If I had to go much further, I wouldn't be so content, I suppose.
We are at $3.20 gal here and I drive 60 miles to get that rural 90 min each way. My mortgage is 1/3 my gas bill and with gas expected to go over $4.00 gal I just have to give up and move into the berbs .
I lived in the burbs 10 years ago and spent all my time off driving to the country. so I moved and now I spend all my money driving to work. There has to be a balance I just haven't found it.
Pat is in a rehab program that will last 7 months (stroke) and then I expect we will move closer to my family in N California ( I mis them) I have been away so long. But there gas is $4.00+ per gal now, and I don't want to live anywhere I can work and I cant work anywhere I want to live One hell hole is as good as another I guess.
