I've collected these bird parts over the past few weeks.
I found this dead bank swallow near the train station. It only had one wing and one claw left. Also the tail was very nice.
The other one is a common blackbird that got killed by our cat, but I think it's a waste to just throw them away.
I let them airdry with salt and removed most of the flesh. These are great for references!
So any animal activist, please calm the fuck down, I didn't kill these birds, nor did I let my cat kill it on purpose. I collect these things and find it facinating to look at.

yep, indeed... some people XD
all my feathers have stayed intact... I place them in plastic sleeves along with details about the birds they're from. :) I am fascinated by skulls as well... but those are rare to find here, unfortunately. ahh, but do you have pictures of your skull collection?

I'm curious as to the preparation.
I took an Ornithology course this summer; during the final it was raining so we had to identify taxidermy birds over a time limit rather than field identification. I finished my exam early on purpose to go back to the northern flicker specimen and just draw it

Ooh very nice collection! and don't worry I love critters and collect dead bits as they are fascinating.... I got a flaming earful last EF cus I let it slip TO THE WRONG PERSON that I have a domestic cat skull in my home- I found the skull in some woods... its all very sad but I found it, didn't know what it was and took it home. I learned it belongs to a kitty, felt bad for the kitty but the skull is loved and in my collection yet somehow I was a bad person for owning it and "should return it to nature" -aka bury it or try and find the owners..... yeah that'd go down well *knock knock* " hello, is this your cat?" *holds up skull* -_- gah... some people... lol
But yeah, jealous of your bird parts, love the swallow tail!

Cat skulls are awesome :D I found a few ribs, part of a pelvis and a large part of the spine of some critter in one of the fields near my house... not sure what they belonged to but the field tends to have a few sheep and cows in on time to time... not to mention deer, I love finding random things like that ^-^;;;
I really don't mind as long as critters weren't killed specifically for taxidermy purposes. When I still ate fish, I occasionally toyed with the heads to see how the jaws were hinged :'D Having wings around from critters you found dead can be quite useful for referential purposes, see how the wings move/work if the joints still work properly |3
I personally would just be too paranoid to touch 'em, though :'3 Most common birds here are craaaaaaaaaaaaaawling with parasites :'3
