PMD = Pokemon Mystery Dungeon of course.
digisushi gave me the idea to draw this in a conversation as a suggestion to try out, as it looks similar in style to another pikachu in my gallery that I thought came out better than average. I studied the style and the main differences from the official style I noticed was the shape of the head being rounder, the position of the eyes further apart from each other and the thinner ears. This one took roughly two and a half hours as I tried harder in getting the face to look right, hope it looks okay ^^;
Sketched on paper and finished in Photoshop Elements.

About your comment on the thinner ears... I think they have been that way always (in any official style) ^_^
The head: perfect.
The body: I think it is great as it is now, being strict, I would have made it a little bit chubbier, but very little.
The background, simple but effective, just the kind of background that doesn't call for attention and is perfect for this close up of the pikachu.
Seems you found your style, but, if you are not really that satisfied be sure to keep making experiments.

I'm glad the head came out right, it was the part I worked on the most ^^;
Hehe, as for the body I guess I made it look skinny out of habit, drawing PuZzy too much I think haha.
