Another of my dragon poems, this one written in 2004 for a writing group I belonged to.
---
Moving Home.
Waking, shaking
The sand from it’s back.
Arching, marching
Out from the black.
Growing, showing
Itself to the world.
Sharing, bearing
Sharp teeth of pearls.
Shimmering, glimmering
Scales coloured like sky.
Flickering, glittering
Stretched wings up high.
Being, feeling
Proud and strong.
Wincing, sensing
Something’s wrong.
Seeing fleeing
People on the isle.
Crying, trying
To keep a smile.
Loosing, choosing
Not to stay.
Gliding, flying
Far away.
