A commission for Dusty Rancourt. One of Dusty's many kids is a little fellow named Dylan who has a few quirks and has difficulty opening up to people. Then one day Dusty finds the woman he hired as a housekeeper playing a board game with him and telling stories back and forth about the game pieces, even bringing in a few toys and things to add to the story. After that, the housekeeper is put in charge of the little fox/wolf pup and helps slowly draw him out of his shell and helps him relate to the world a little better. Here they're watching the clouds overhead and picking out the shapes in them. The umbrella is for Dylan's skin, he has very thin fur and very fair skin and burns easily.

Absolutely, positively perfect. That's Dylan, all right...and that's his expression, as he cloudwatches for the first time in the open air. So many things he couldn't do, before, without a supervising adult...his father's a music producer with a late night cable talk show, and his mother's his father's executive assistant. They care, but they suffer from time poverty, and though the little guy grows up with financial support and good intentions from his folks, it wasn't until Miss Lane came into his life that he started creeping out of his shell and taking baby steps toward engaging the world.
He is a very, very fortunate young man. Meeting the kitty with the green eyes changes his life in wonderful ways.

This is honestly one of the sweetest pictures I've seen in a very, very long time.
The look on Dylan's face is spot on. It's spot on for someone who's a little afraid, a little in their own world, and absolutely awestruck by the world around them. Even the fact he's gripping her tail for security.. This is just so sweet, and happy. I'm glad I caught the livestream of this being drawn.

The eyes on Dylan show the wonder they hold. A person's imagination would just come alive if just showed the right motivation and slight push. This is one of the best pictures I've seen from you Gen. Please continue to show us all, those who follow you, the same wonder and enchantment of your pictures and sketches.
