I try with photoshop but it involves a lot more repeating of strokes than it would if I were working with real media oils. I've given SAI a try but it feels like it works backwards....the harder I push, the lighter the color comes out (paintbrush). I dunno. I'm so confused with it XD. I need to learn how the layer modes work and what tools I should use for what.
I don't know if you paint on layers but sai works best on one in my opinion :) at least the brush tool and stuff. you just need an hour or so to test the waters and figure it out :) but it's not for every one, some people are naturals in ps and some others in sai, so i've learned :D
That is very helpful right there. I think my problem is that I've been approaching SAI like photoshop. I try to use as little layers as possible with photoshop but I wind up with at least 3 by the end of the painting. I'm going to go back and fool around with SAI more :) Thank you for the feedback <3
