Holy crap! Reminds me of Stephen Gammell's Scary Stories illustrations, and I mean that as a high compliment. (It isn't as creepy, though.)

Oh my god, I remember that book! The illustrations were often creepier than the stories themselves, all scratches and shapes and raw idea.
