Finished piece for
ms.delicious of these adorable beebz, McKenzie and Rommel. I adopted Rommel's design from her recently and had been itching to draw something of them together.
I was really proud of this at first, but now all I can see is everything I fucked up. It's impossible not to tear yourself apart when doing art for another artist whom you look up to. So I put a ton of work into this. I hope it shows, even though the photo app on my iPhone pretty much raped all the shading I did. *SOB* :C Also, I am extremely limited on my available colors. I only have a few shades of prisma and sharpie marker and couldn't quite get a lot of the colors I wanted for both characters, but I think I came pretty close, albeit a bit dark. I've never layered and mixed so many marker colors in my life. But still, this was the most fun I've had drawing anything in a really long time, so if nothing else, at least I've got that going for me. lololol. X3 I also tried to incorporate a bit of Syd's style into their faces just to try something new. I just adore the way she draws muzzles, mouths and noses. I hope she doesn't mind.
Anyway. I hope you like it, Syd. Hope I did them both justice! I tried my best! ;~;

I'm glad you commented! I wanted to ask your opinion on Rommel's arm. You are so boss at foreshortening and perspective and I'm still trying to get the hang of it. I think it looks better than it did in the sketch, but something still looks off about it. Can you tell what it is that's bothering me so much about it?? Hahah. Could the coloring have something to do with it? Think it needs more shading to create more depth? It's driving me crazy! I need to brush up on my perspectives.

Hnnnnggg So glad you like it! I know you get rad and completely amazing gift art from far better artists than me all the time, so it really means a lot that you'd take the time to take a look and comment. <3 And I'm so glad you see improvement in my work! I've just started drawing again this year after a 2 year or so long hiatus, so I've been basically working my ass off to catch up. It's good to know my efforts are paying off! But I can't take full credit for the snarls. I've been obsessing over ms.delicious's style of drawing faces, particularly snarly ones. So I borrowed a lot of her technique for this piece and I'm, for the most part, pretty pleased with how it all came out. I also really tried to draw BIGGER for this one, which helped me a lot in the coloring because I was able to show more details in their faces. I need to start drawing bigger more often, but it is so hard for me to get the proportions right when I'm drawing in larger scale. x__x
When are we hanging out again, homo?!! I miss you!! D:
