Gosh I really need to do more painterly pictures like this, going from photos or whatever. I learn different things from doing so.
Yes, this is referenced from a photo. I've had it on my laptop a long time so I don't know where it came from...
I intentionally made the rocks look differently than the ones referenced, too. Only the bat is mostly realistic. I also wanted to make sure this was finished today, so that's the main reason why. xD

Having the bat more realistic and the background more simplified is actually a fantastic way to draw attention to the bat, and a valid technique for directing the viewer's focus. Don't think of your art any less becuase you didn't draw every individual bump and crack on the rock face, too. It's perfectly effective as it is, and probably even more so becuase there isn't a background competeing for attention. I think this turned out beautifully!
