Sorry for all the WIP pics, but some people were wanting to know the whole process of how I do this...Now I've got all the wire wrapped tightly in wool (which has also been felted a bit to hold it in place, or else it would start to unravel) except for the tips of the feet. My next step is to wad up balls of wool and fill in all the holes (and poke the balls a million times to make them very dense, all the while adding more and more wool to them), to start "fleshing" out his body. After that, I'll wrap more wool around the whole thing and poke that down too, so that the wool filling is firmly attached to the wool-wrapped wire. I'm using coarse, cheap "filler" wool for this part; the finer, silkier Merino wool I'll save for the outermost layer, because that stuff is expensive! :P
