The last time I played Pathfinder, I was a mage who had an octopus as a familiar. It became an enlightened (sapient) familiar before my character died.
Rather than make a new character and jump in, I thought it would be awesome if the octopus (named Squiggles) sought to avenge the death of its master.
Squiggles had a better backstory than the original character I started the game with. Also it had to be a barbarian to get a better land-speed.
It's a shame the group I was with kinda fell apart (scheduling crap) I would've loved to see how far Squiggles could go!
