Gators are green and they love guns. Ok, actually, both of those statements are false. Gators are black and usually covered in a thin veneer of mud, giving them a greenish appearance in bright sunlight. Also, gators don't like loud noises or being shot, so they don't really care for guns.
THAT BEING SAID, anthropomorphic gators such as myself, like guns - and what better way to carry around those fun things than with a custom fabricated hand built holster? Or TWO?
The left side draw holster houses my S&W M&P 22, on the right, my Glock 21 .45acp. The third holster is for my fox who also likes guns,

I built all three holsters from the same template. Once I had the first one fully built, I tried all the guns in it. Moving the snap on the over strap will make it fit any full size semi-automatic pistol just fine!
I used 9oz latigo leather, the kind which is fully finished on both sides. It's swank.
We will be shooting this weekend and giving them a try. Next up, magazine belt holders :)

I would not even know where to begin, though if you have any suggestions about parts suppliers, I would be happy to hear about it!
These holsters are designed for the range and other environments where a pistol grabbing loon would be quite unexpected. I suppose they could be used for open carry, though I have no plans to do so.

You know, after your question, I actually spent the day thinking over about how to best build a safe gun holster. It has come to me as a balance of ease vs security; and that the two are naturally at odds. Some simple ideas I had were just changing the location of the snap so it's on the holster's inside instead of on the outside. Or change out the button to something more complex to operate. Other things include trigger locks that have to be depressed externally by the trigger finger before drawing.
but hey, let me mule this over XD this is nice! I might have to commission you to make a custom knife sheath for me one day!
