"What do you want to do this weekend?" Izzy wondered aloud. She flipped the top corner down on the page she was reading and placed her book on the floor. Her now available fingers intwined themselves in the hair of the labrador resting her head in Izzy's lap. Alejandra opened her eyes and smiled. "Well, There's a Bikram yoga session in midtown tomorrow. It's 105 degrees of intense poses for two hours at half the cost! Oh! The NYC auto show is happening. We can go see the new models and get in a test drive maybe?" She paused to consider more choices before excitedly continuing. "Orrrr, that bar that has the tire logo on the lower east side is having a ladies only party! It'll be a bunch of local indie bands playing all night while everyone smokes hookah and gets discounted beers! Tart and Amara will be there!" Ale looked up at Izzy with a wide smile and waiting for her response.
No answer came as Izzy was taken aback by the whirlwind of options given to her just now. It had been such a hectic week for her that none of those options sounded good. They went against the relaxed weekend she had planned in her mind during her last class on Friday. "Oh, uh, I heard about this new interior design supply store opening in Williamsburg. They're having a small opening sale and I was hoping to go by and check it out..." She let the words hang out there, hoping Alejandra would take the hint and disinvite her to the festivities she had suggested for tomorrow. Her fingers continued to the play with the labs hair. Alejandra nodded. "Let's go do that then," she said in a matter of fact tone. "Oh, you don't have to go! I was just saying that those things all sound so tiring and I know you don't like that stuff so I don't wanna make you go," she stammered to try and correct her words. Izzy brought her leg up and started to push back from the lab to stand up. Ale reached out and grabbed onto her leg, looking back up at the girl she felt so comfortable around.
"No, that sounds like fun! Let's go do that."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I like that stuff cause you like it and I like being with you. Let's spend the day in Williamsburg." Ale let out a relaxed sigh and shut her eyes again. A small smile crept into the corners of Izzy's lips as she settled back down under the soft head of her best friend. With a slight rosy tint in her cheeks, she leans over and gives Ale a gentle kiss before picking up her book and continuing where she left off.
Pardon all spelling errors, please. I don't wanna go back and reread this before I have to run out. I hastily wrote down this little moment for Izzy and Ale and then darted out to go about my day. Now I have drawn a little image to go alone with it!"
