so i made this suit quite a while ago and wore it to Furnal Equinox 2013
I dont know what to do with it, someone suggested making it into an otter suit, which would be adorable, but in that case I wish i made it out of brown D:
I might try that anyways.
it was SUPPOSED to be a raccoon but i found out AFTER i had finished making the whole body that this fur just so happens to be stain resistant... like honestly nothing works, india ink rinses off it with water.
I dont really want to sell it, mostly cus its made specifically to my body shape and would be hard for any1 else to wear. My Favorite part is the feet, they are atached to the suit so they cant come off, and has individual toes so i can wiggle and spread them like normal.
The suit is made of reaalllyyy short really soft reallly pricey, STRETCHY fur! Which allows it to be skin tight and still comfy and i can move in it really well but sometimes some of the seams pop.
also ignore my stupid pose >_> was trying to get a pic of the feet

to make a tight one like this u will have to find really streatchy fur... which is something almost no companies make :C
this was a fur that was stuck onto the back of a turtle skin kind of fabric and wasnt meant to streatch, it was labeled as upholstry, i ripped the 2 fabrics apart and tada! the rare stretchy fur was found!
only came in gray and brown though, was really expensive, and is unpaintable :C

That's pretty nice. Maybe I would use it for a rat ou a mouse fursuit.
IIt's looks a bit like some velvet lycra/spandex fabric I've used in the past, or like anthron fleece.
Maybe look into dyes for anthron fleece, that could be an idea too.
I had already painted velvet lycre/spandex fabrics with some paint for fabrics.
I don't find back my bottle here, so I don't have the brand name, but it was a really thick paint used to draw on shirts, and made to resist washing.
But if your fur is really stretchy you'll have to wear it while painting. If you succeed in finding the same kind of paint than me, don't put too much at once, and let it dry between layer. Mine was really thick and it would have look bad if I did put too much of it, as it was making some kind of layer upon the spandex fabric.
As for anthron fleece, maybe look for local product and paints people are using for that kind of fabrics.

It's more paints that can stick to the fabric even if the fabric is made of synthetic fibers.
Actually, the paint won't go into the fabric or into the fibers, it will just cover it with a thin layer of paint.
It's why those are really thick, you can even paint some white color on top of black fabric. Usually those kind of paints are made to be heated so they can stick, but with synthtic fur we don't want to do that. It will need a few hours to dry, and after 24 hours the paint is supposed to be attached really well to the fabric.
Check in fabric stores too, and take a piece of fabric with you so you can test or check with people there.
When I painted mine, it was some kind of very short spandex lycra velvet, so it doesn't need to be brushed. But I alerady did some test to airbrush some of my suits, and those one nededd to be brushed a bit between evevey layer.
If you put to much at once, yes it will harden the fur, but if you procede carefully, the fur should stay fluffy, even if maybe less soft when you'll touch it.
I know Lance Ikegawa use some leatherdye on a few fabrics, but apparently it's pretty hard to find. The good thing with leatherdye, it's it won't move even if there is water on it. To take it off, you'll need alcohol. I've tried some here, but it didn't work well with my fur, but his one seems to work great on his fursuits.
Usually the best technics is to airbrush with some really good acrylinc paints like this one
http://www.autoaircolors.com/paints.....700series.html it's usually work with acrylic furs, but as you are told me, even india ink can't stay on it. So maybe it was made with some water repellant product on it. In that case, it will be really difficult to find something to dye/paint it it. But autoair with an airbrush should be able to dry almost immediatly, so maybe it could stay on this fur.
I know it's the same kind of problem with some anthron fleece, and you can dye it with Rit dye only.
But wathever you try to do, do it on a separate piece, don't ruin your bodysuit.
If you find something which seems to work, wait a few days, then try to put it in hot water at bodytemperature, so you can check it won't melt if you're sweating in your fursuit, and try to wash it several time to check if he can stay like new after washing it.
I've already made some work on suits, and have to do it all over again because the paint was ok with water, but didn't resist when I was sweating in it ^_^!
