I do believe in familiars, animal or not. I think my mom's dog who we had since I was like 7-18 or something like that. He was our protector even if he was a Chihuahua. His name was Jake. He was about 9 or 10 years old when he passed away. Obviously, male. Connection: When we first saw each other. Powerful, Instantaneous, Protecting, Loving. His strong points was that he was our protector. He would bark to warn us if there was someone outside. He would even bite a person if he didn't like them.
:)
Do you believe in spirit animals--as in guides and guardians?
.
My best friend Tori's late Alaskan Malamute Jake was like your Chihuahua . . . Whoa, same name. Go figure. Tori's dog was about 13 years, I believe. He was the Peacekeeper of a house with three other dogs (all small breeds). A very lovable dog with strong energy, indeed.
I was told last night during a conversation with a dear friend that when your familiar respects everything that you have and love--even other animals--that is when you will know that the connection is solid . . . and you will be linked forever.
It's definitely a different feeling--the connection between oneself and a familiar, in comparison to how you may feel towards other pets you own.
Astral respects that I have other animals sharing my living space besides him. He does not eat my rats, nor the lizard. He gives the dog his space and stays where he's comfortable with the two older female cats. This is the third house that Astral has lived in with me. When I moved, he followed. There has always been at least a pair of rats in the house. He is wary, but he is smart and brave.
I tell him he's my big strong protector. <3
He's a great mouser but he knows the difference between domesticated rats and wild mice!
