short version of DA comment: Ferron are alien bird... dino things that live on the same planet as Ginaga and Chi'Tsao. In the very early draft of my story they were villains but since I didn't want a villain species they were upgraded to "can be good or bad". The two big claw toes on their feet are powerful weapons... as you'd expect from giant claws on feet. Males actually often leave their home planet to learn foreign dances to impress the females because apparently looking like a walking rainbow isn't enough.
