I love my old video games for the original NES. One of my favorites was the Original Dragon Warrior. That game took forever, but I loved it. There were green slimes everwhere, but if you were really lucky, you could find a silver slime. Those things are worth crazy mad experiance points.

Out of that list:
1: Got it, Beat it too many times to count. Even found the hidden white mushroom houses.
2: Got it, beat it over and over and over again. I know all the hidden entrances and everything. I love that game so much.
3. Got it, Beat it. Again too many times to count. I don't even get lost in The Great Palace anymore.
4. Got it, I can beat the entire thing without dying.
5. Got it, I even beat Mike Tyson.
I have over 90 original NES games, and they all still play. I can't decide which ones are my favorite. I love them all.

no problem ^.^ and wow i should SO teach you that game in and out. i can beat it in less than a day at work (i know cause i did that regularly on my gameboy copy). the nes and snes eras are the golden age of gaming, and to be honest many of these current developers should go back and take notes from them. after all, they worked on such limited technology, yet could still pull out more innovation from a few pixels than these next gen bums can with hundreds of thousands of polygons.
A year or two ago my brother decided to play all of the Dragon Warrior games in order. He beat the first one in a day, no hacks. It's really not that long. ^.^;;
The second one is only about twice that, and the third takes about a week if you play all day.
Dragon Quest 7 was insane. It takes around 120 hours to complete. I thought that it flowed really nicely, with a constant sense of where you are and what's going on, but apparently most people felt it meandered and was too slow/boring, which is a shame. I really liked it!
Longer than Dragon Quest 8, too!

I'm pretty sure he used a map so he knew where he was going, but yeah if you know what you're doing it's pretty quick.
It takes a long time as a kid 'cause you don't know what you're doing. You're exploring and leveling up just to survive and wandering around randomly exploring.

hehe, you'll love this, check it out.
1. leave the castle after grabbing the chests in the throneroom.
2. goto the town and buy a club, fight slimes around town until you can afford the leather shield and leather armor.
3. west to fight wizards, scorpions, and magidrakes until you can buy an axe, and some chain mail in the town in the nw corner of the map.
4. move far east, through the cave with the dragon guarding the princess, to the town there and fight werewolves and warlocks until you have magic armor, and a steel sword. then back into the cave to kill the dragon and rescue the princess.
5. head back west and then south to the destroyed town (hawkness i believe) and defeat the mad knight for erdricks armor.
6. head to the nw town and into the hidden dungeon to pick up the silver harp.
7. travel east and north to a shrine and grab the staff of rain, then further east into the town to nab the fairy flute.
8. head west, then south, then east. fight the golem at the entrance to the town with the wall around it. pick up a flame sword, and silver shield. find the old man who tells you where erdricks crest is and take down the coordinates.
9. head south into the marsh and grab the crest, make a stop back at the castle and grab the stones of sunlight.
10. back east, through the tunnel with the dragon, south of the town to a small shrine, grab the rainbow tears and head west.
11. standing at the small space between that continent and the inaccessible one to the west you use the rainbow tears, and cross the bridge it creates.
12. enter the dragon lords castle, locate the sword of erdrick inside, then the dragon lord and show him the pointy end of your sword.
a "super quick, not so detailed but rough enough to get the jist of it" guide to beating dragon warrior in about 8 hours time. ^.^ sorry, i REALLY couldn't resist doing this.

yep, the nes dragon quest games weren't very long, though damn fun. dragon warrior IV still holds some amazingly fond memories for me, and i'd have to say III is the pinnacle of the series. VII was kickass, yet i felt at times it did drag out too much, however it still was an outstanding game in the series. if you haven't played VI i'd recommend picking up a copy, it's phenomenal (actually VII takes many things from it, including the way the classes work. not to mention beautiful) i'm putting alot of comments on this submittion because i have a passion for these gams ^.^
I played some of VI on a fan-translated emulated copy, but I couldn't play through. They stopped the translation at 99.9 percent and since so much of it was translated, most people playing it never come to a place where the text wasn't translated... But I did. As soon as I did, I couldn't bear to play it anymore.
I've played 4 and 5 though. I never managed to beat 2 or 3 myself. 3 was my favorite even though I didn't finish it, untill I played 7. 7 is my favorite now. It's the longest by far and had some great characters and settings.

It's pretty strange. A lot of people are saying it shouldn't be DQ9 but some sort of spinoff series. It looks more different than it actually is, though.
The things I'm most excited about are the multiplayer and the character builder. I get to make my own Dragon Quest style character and play it in an actual Dragon Quest game! XD
