Third set of revamped portraits of characters in
's novel The Afflicted. He commissioned me a good three years ago for sketch portraits of these exact characters (they're far back in this gallery), and now that he's finally finishing this book I offered to do updated ones, just because!
Done with ballpoints on Aquabee heavy sketch paper. 9x12 Characters and setting belong to the client,
and rights to the art are jointly owned by myself and the client.

These ones, just like all the others, are lovely. You made Celine look like a hopeful dreamer, and good lord can you do amazing cat eyes. Marcus ... he looks exhausted but still anxious, at the same time. He looks like someone whose worries and troubles have piled up so high that he's just worn out trying to deal with them, but as worn out as he is, they're still there. I see someone who hasn't slept in months because he couldn't, and he still can't. It's a downright heartbreaking look; I as the author honestly feel a bit guilty for what I've put him through, now.
In other words (and I know I say this a lot, but it keeps being true,) the moods you've captured are perfect for these characters. I love it. :)
