At Burning Man last week I decided to try out my new flame effect before mounting it to a permanent structure.
I built Flapjack in 2003, his personality and facial expression bring out the seriousness of a flame wielding lop.
*Please do not try this at home*
We had a trained safety and document crew along with us.
Tech facts: LPG was used with a live pilot regulated at 65 lbs through a 1/4 inch aperture. A 1 lb. Coleman tank was used as an accumulator. A 12v custom remote drove the solenoid and hot surface ignitior for starting and firing the device.
Flapjack was my first attempt at a balaclava based head. His ears and hair snap on for easy cleaning. His head is fully submersible and machine washable.
