Marble cake I baked for my Dad's birthday this year in two 8" round pans. Used one (obviously) for the globe, cut the eagle and anchor out of the other. It was a pretty nice piece of work, if I say so myself--drew the designs on the cake with icing before cutting, using a pic of the emblem on my laptop. The red and yellow parts were (carefully) colored with edible aerosol dye.
The rope and motto were done with that "icing in a can" aerosol stuff, and I will NEVER EVER EVER use that crap again!! Not only is it way too soft, it's nearly impossible to control.
I scrambled to finish this in time to get it to my parents, but the look on both their faces was more than worth it.
Biiig thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for fixing this picture up so that I could post it for y'all.
